Nick Parma

Nicholas graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1995 and from the University of Texas School of Law in 1998. He served as briefing attorney to the Honorable Linda Yanez before going into private practice.

Nicholas’ practice has focused on litigation and appeals in a variety of areas including insurance defense, insurance coverage, governmental defense, personal injury, wrongful death and commercial disputes. Nicholas is licensed in the State of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Western, Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas.

In November, 2021, Nicholas had the honor of giving a CLE presentation to the Hidalgo County Bar Association Appellate Section on mandamus practice.

Monroe Guaranty Insurance Company v. BITCO General Insurance Corp., 640 S.W.3d 195 (Tex. 2022) (Involving a certified question from the Fifth Circuit regarding the admissibility of extrinsic evidence when determining an insurance carrier’s duty to defend).

Gillum v. High Standard, LLC, No. SA-19-CV-1378-XR, 2020 WL 444371 (W.D. Tex. Jan. 27, 2020) (Dismissal of claims against a freight broker based on federal preemption).

Zamorano v. Zyna LLC, No. SA-20-CV-00151-XR, 2020 WL 2316061 (W.D. Tex. May 11, 2020) (Dismissal of claims against a freight broker based on federal preemption).

In re Hochheim Prairie Cas. Ins. Co., 09-19-00158-CV, 2019 WL 3330593 (Tex. App. - Beaumont July 25, 2019, orig. proceeding)(mandamus conditionally granted to vacate trial court’s discovery order).

Nicholas and his wife have one son, Joseph. Nicholas spends his spare time with his family, gardening, reading, and thinking about restoring his 1965 Mustang Fastback.
